VOIP Software

Software is required to use the PC-to-PC and PC-to-Phone services. These software programs act like telephones. When you launch the software a dialpad is displayed on your screen, and you then key-in or click the number you want to dial. The software is usually included and pre-configured with the company you choose to sign up with.

You can always choose the software phone that best suits your needs. You're not limited to using the software phone that comes with the chosen service, but you'll have to spend some time configuring the alternate software program that you choose.

For broadband phone services, you may not need any software. Some tout that you just plug in a couple of cables and you're on your way. It all depends on what hardware comes with your service.
